APPLIED ECOLOGICAL SERVICES

Brodhead, Wisconsin

As part of a master planning process, a beautiful and inviting front entryway was designed for the main office of this ecological restoration firm’s corporate campus. The design showcases the native species used by the firm and employs vertical stone elements to create a sense of enclosure and aid way finding within the strongly horizontal landscape.

Locally quarried stones define the entry and create the feel of an ancient architectural foundation. Two mature oaks give a sense of age to the landscape, and attractive geometrically arranged perennial beds hint at AES’s broad expertise in fields as diverse as plant ecology and complex engineering. No-mow turfgrass borders the gardens, separating them from the walkway and easing maintenance. Natural stone benches provide a relaxing place to view the attractive gardens.
