Due to the flat topography of the front yard, the Brendel Residence needed to control the abundance of storm-water in the front area of the home. Designer, John Gishnock III, skillfully placed three connecting rain gardens to trap and control the flow of any excess rainwater. The predominately stone based project gave the home a southwestern arid feel that complimented the goal of a dry and efficient space. In addition, the design embodied sustainability by using local quarry stones, working with existing vegetation, and implementing no-mow lawn.
