Environmentally conscious clients at this charming home in Evansville, WI were looking for innovative ideas to create a low impact eco-friendly driveway to replace their old weathered asphalt. A driveway made of concrete driving treads and ‘Turfpavers’ reduced the amount of hardscape and lowered rainwater runoff generated by the home, garage, and site. No-mow turfgrass planted in the pockets of the ‘Turfpavers’ allow stormwater to infiltrate back in the ground, while requiring very little mowing. An oversized apron with a detailed brick edge integrates existing brickwork and provides a useful space for outdoor activities and gathering. Additional stormwater from the driveway is also deflected and captured in a rain garden beside the garage.
